1.The Biggest Stadiums in the World People have been pouring into stadiums since the days of ancient Greece. In around 80 A.D.,the Romans built the Colosseum, which remains the world's best-known stadium and continues to inform contemporary design.Rome's Colosseum was 157 feet tall and had 80 entrances, seating 50,000 people. However, that was small fry compared with the city's Circus Maximus, which accommodated around 250,000 people.
These days, safety regulations—not to mention the modern sports fan's desire for a good view and a comfortable seat—tend to keep stadium capacities(容量)slightly lower.Even soccer fans tend to have a seat each;gone are the days of thousands standing to watch the match.
For the biggest stadiums in the world,we have used data supplied by the World Atlas list so far, which ranks them by their stated permanent capacity,as well as updated information from official stadium websites.
All these stadiums are still functional, still open and still hosting the biggest events in world sport.

2.Papa's jaw dropped when mama told him that Sister had cheated on her final exams---not to succeed but to fail. "It's unbelievable!" he said. "Sister has always been so proud of her good grades!"
"Yes,she has," said Mama. "But it's not unbelievable. It just shows how badly she wanted off the swimming team."
"Wanted off the swimming team?" said Papa, "She never said anything about that to me."
"Of course she didn't," said Mama. "She was afraid you'd blow your top.You already had her getting a swimming scholarship to college and winning gold medals at the Olympics. Can you imagine how much pressure she must have felt? For her, being on the team couldn't have been much fun."
"Oh,my Gosh!" Papa said, clapping a hand to his forehand. "I've been so stupid!I just thought she'd want to be a champion swimmer because she's so good at it."
"It's like anything else, dear," said Mama. "No matter how good at it you are,if it stops being fun,you won't want to do it anymore."
Papa put his head in his hands.
"She must be really mad at me," he mumbled. "Maybe I should say sorry to her."
Sister's footsteps could be heard on the stairs. She came into the kitchen and looked hopefully up at her parents with a smile.
"Honey," said Mama with a smile, "Your Papa and I have decided that there's no reason for you to be on the swimming team if you don't want to."
Sister's face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Yippee!" she cried.
"And," added Papa, "there's no need for any more drills.I'm sure you'll bring your grades back up all by yourself."
Sister ran to Papa and jumped into his arms. She gave him a big hug. "I'm going to go play cards with Lizzy!" she said. "See you later!"
From the kitchen window,Mama and Papa watched their daughter run down the sunny road toward Lizzy's house.
"It's good to see her happy again," said Mama.
"It sure is," Papa agreed. "As for the swimming team, there's always next year."
"If?" Mama prompted him.
"Oh,right," said Papa. "If she wants to." Mama smiled. "At least you're learning, dear." she said. She kissed him.

3.There's a day for just about everything, and the United Nations has designated May 20 as World Bee Day to celebrate the pollinators (傳粉昆蟲) dwelling in hives, fields and gardens around the globe. It draws much concern on bees and there's a good reason to pay attention to them.
"There are 20,000 species of bees around the world and a lot of these bees are in decline," says Hien Ngo,a pollinator expert from the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization. That includes honeybees,of course, but Ngo says they only make up a minority of all the kinds of bees in the world.Climate change, pesticides and habitat loss are putting many of those species a risk.
"Bees really provide for us in many ways. They're also important to our culture, dating back thousands of years in terms of heritage, inspiration of art," Ngo says. They even provide inspiration for TikTok,where Erika Thompson,a professional beekeeper in Austin,Texas, shares her work.
"The landlord wanted to call an exterminator (根除者),but the family who lived here wanted to save the bees,so they called me," she says in come video.
Her fans watch with happiness – and sometimes a little horror – as she picks up mounds (成堆) of bees with her bare hands and then moves them somewhere safer.
"I've removed bees from a lot of crazy places," Thompson says. "You know,I've removed bees from homes,RVs,tires, speakers and even a toilet"
Thompson's work is about more than getting millions of views per video. "Bees are just a key factor in creating diverse and healthy ecosystems," she notes.

4.If you ever visit an English village, make sure to look out for morris dancing.Undoubtedly one of the strangest traditions of English culture, morris dancing is a form of folk dancing that dates back to the 15th century. If you ever get the opportunity, you really have to see it.
Men and women wearing old-fashioned,shabby(破爛的)clothing dance in the streets of towns and villages across the country during the holiday periods.Women wear long skirts and men wear short trousers with bells attached to them. They dance to traditional folk music which is often played on traditional musical instruments.
Some groups carry heavy black sticks with which they beat against each other while they dance.Other groups wave handkerchiefs in the air while they perform. The dances are usually performed near a pub so that when they're over, the dancers and audience can sing some traditional folk songs over beer. The celebrations will often continue long into the night.
Morris dancing is a great English tradition but it's facing a big crisis. As the years go by,fewer and fewer young people are joining morris dancing groups. The dancers are getting older and older and eventually,if not protected, the tradition will die out within the next few decades.
If you've ever had the fortune to see morris dancing, you may understand why teenagers aren't rushing to sign up.Frankly,it's not exactly the coolest thing for an 18-year-old to do.Why dress up in bells and funny costumes when you could be going camping, playing sports or doing anything else?
However,it would be a great shame to lose such a fun and lively part of England's history and culture. So here's a toast to the next generation of would-be morris dancers!Let's hope they don't leave it too late.
(1)What is the passage mainly about?
A.The origins of morris dancing.

A.They dance in pubs late into the night.
B.They perform with sticks or handkerchiefs.

A.It is losing appeal among young people.
