The second-largest city in Switzerland after Zurich Geneva has a desirable position on the southwestern end of Lake Geneva.Visitors to Geneva will find it an elegant city with extremely attractive scenery. Here are some best things to do in Geneva.
Catch the Spray(水霧) From the Jet d'Eau
Made in 1886 to control the outflow of water from a nearby power station, the Jet d'Eau (water jet) soon became a symbol of the city.It shoots water nearly 140 meters into the air.Unless winds are too strong, the Jet d'Eau opens every day and lights up at night. If you get close enough, you'll get hit with a refreshing spray.
   Tour the Palais des Nations
Built in the 1930s,the Palais des Nations (Palace of Nations) is the second-largest UN headquarters(聯合國總部).It's one of the largest diplomatic conference(外交會議) centers globally. It's a big building located in Ariana Park.Visitors are free to wander the grounds or make an hour-long guided tour of several of the buildings.
Take a Break at the Jardin Anglais &the Flower Clock
All roads in Geneva seem to lead to the Jardin Anglais-the English Garden-the small, prettily planted lakefront garden in the center of Geneva.Crowds gather here for the flower clock,an oversized timepiece planted with seasonal flowers.Plenty of sitting areas,hundred-year-old shade trees, and a central fountain make this a relaxing place to take a break from sightseeing.
Walk along the Lakefront and Riverside
The Jardin Anglais is just one place to admire the lake and the Jet d'Eau.Visitors can wander along the entire lakefront. There are 6 miles of walking and bike paths along the lakefront.Swans pass by during the day,and at night, the riverfront and surrounding buildings are romantically lit.
