2.I used to be a pessimist (悲觀主義者),thinking that the worst thing might happen in every situation.
Last year,my mother had a serious illness.I felt my whole world turn upside down and I had no idea what I could do to help her with her pain.I often cried whenever I was alone.
Last month,I lost an expensive dress that was a birthday present from my father.I could not fall asleep for a few nights because I felt so terrible about the loss.
There have been many things like these in my life.I really didn't know how to deal with them until I read If You Have a Lemon,Make a Lemonade by an American writer,Dale Carnegie. "When the wise man is handed a lemon,he asks, 'How can I turn this lemon into a lemonade? How can I improve my situation? What lesson can I learn from this?'" he wrote.
I suddenly realized that life is full of ups and downs,so I decided to stay positive (積極的) all the time.
Now when I think of my past,I wish I could have dealt with things differently. When my mother was fighting with her illness,I should have held her hands in mine, telling her that things would get better instead of hiding and crying.
Recently,I took part in a school singing competition.I didn't win a prize. If I had not read the article,I would be sad and disappointed again. But I smiled after the competition because at least,I had got some experience in the singing competition.

3.There is a popular Chinese saying that "Fair skin will make up for three flaws (缺點(diǎn))".This mentions the fact that in Chinese culture,it is believed that people who have fair skin are more beautiful. In Western culture, however, the opposite is true-many Westerners think tanned skin is prettier. The example shows that different cultures have different ideas of what they think is beautiful. These cultural meanings of beauty, however, are no longer important. As more and more people travel overseas, ideas about beauty are being shared among cultures. The Internet has also made it easier for people to share different types of beauty since people are always posting pictures on social media. The result is an ever-changing idea of what is considered beautiful.
The cultural practice of ear piercings, for example, has become a part of modern day culture. In Kenya,it is a tradition among the Masai men and women to pierce and then make their ear lobes (耳垂) longer using ivory and wood or stones. They then wear colorful things on their ear lobes. This is a common practice since longer ear lobes are seen as a sign of beauty. This tradition has now found its way into present-day culture.Nowadays, this might still seem unusual to some, but with more and more well-known actors and film stars showing off their longer ear lobes. It will finally become more fashionable.
It is understood that different cultures around the world have different ways of showing beauty. However, since we now live in a worldwide society, people's views about beauty are always changing. With the help of the Internet, people are now able to easily borrow ideas from other cultures to help them stand out.So what new fashions can we expect to see in the future?

8.It's Friday evening. My daughters sighed (嘆息) when I gently took the iPads away from their laps. One by one,our screens were turned off.We lit the candles and sat down to have a big meal.We call it our "Technology Shabbat"(科技安息日) which lasts from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday. Now most friends know they will not be able to contact (聯(lián)系) us by using computers or mobile phones for 24 hours.I first understood the importance of "Technology Shabbat" in 2008,when my father had got brain cancer. Some days he would have only one good hour, and the only thing I wanted to do was to be with him. When I looked after my father,I turned off my mobile phone.Soon after that,my husband and I decided to turn off all the electronic things for one full day every week.
During our "Technology Shabbat",time slows down. Our Saturdays now feel like mini-vacations,we drive cars or ride bikes. We work in the garden, play board games and cook meals with our kids.I feel like a better mother, wife and person.Keeping a balance between the good and the bad of technology is important for my family. The technology helps us share knowledge and funny ideas all over the world. But the technology also takes something away from us.When we stay up late at night linking (連接) from website to website or sending messages,we click (點(diǎn)擊) again and again until we have been overloaded. Now we're rushing into the time full of high technology. We should pay attention to what we are doing online and when we should go offline.I will always remember the most important thing in my family:Technology Shabbat.
(1)When is "Technology Shabbat" in the writer's family?
(2)What did the writer and her husband decide to do after her father got cancer?
(3)What's the good of technology according to the passage?
(4)What does the writer want to tell us?
(5)Do you like the idea of "Technology Shabbat"?Why or why not?組卷:0引用:1難度:0.5
