Children wanted Margaret was reading an advertisement for a house to rent.She had read it five times and then，still unbelieving.She had two children，Penelope and David.For three months she had been searching for a new flat，unsuccessfully，of course.Most Landlords （房東） preferred business ladies without children.But this advertisement was too perfect to believe in：" Partially furnished flat.3 rooms.Own kitchen.Garden.Small rent in return for a few services.It does not suit business lady or gentleman or childless couple.
Luckily the house was no more than five minutes' walk away.In a short time，Margaret had hurried up the path and rung the bell.The man，about sixty，actually a writer，opened the door；very tall with shaggy eyebrows.He looked at Margaret strangely and said a business lady was not suitable，which was clearly stated in his advertisement.With the words the man was about to shut the door.Margaret grab the door handle and said she was not a business lady.
The man looked at Margaret in disbelief and said， "Aren't you？Well，it's no good anyway.Very sorry." He began to shut the door again.Margaret said desperately， "Why not？Has it already been rented？" It turned out that he didn't think Margaret was a woman with kids.
When Margaret told the man she has two children，a slight light flashed in the eyes of the old man.He told Margaret his daughter has three children，and the flat was converted （轉(zhuǎn)變） five years ago for them，however，they left last month.He wanted children in the flat and children need mother's company.He insisted on seeing the children in person before making the last decision.
Margaret said urgently： "They are not at the same place.One is at home，and the other's at school.If I go and fetch the children，will you promise not to let anyone else have the flat for an hour at least？" He hesitated，scratching the side of his face. "Oh，all right，then.But I' m not promising anything.Have to see the kids first. "He said and shut the door.
