1.From the age of seven,Cameron was educated at two independent schools.Due to good academic grades,Cameron entered the top academic class almost two years early. At the age of thirteen,he went to Eton College in Berkshire, following his father and elder brother. His early interest was in art.Six weeks before taking his O Level he was caught smoking cannabis(大麻).He admitted the offence but had not been involved in selling drugs,so he was not expelled. However,he was fined and prevented from leaving school grounds.
After leaving Eton in 1984,Cameron started a nine-month gap year.He worked as a researcher for Tim Rathbone. In his three months there,he attended debates in the House of Commons.Through his father,he was then employed for a further three months in Hong Kong by Jardine Matheson as a "ship jumper",which was an administrative post.
Cameron then began his Bachelor of Arts studies in Philosophy,Politics, and Economics at Brasenose College,Oxford. His tutor described him as one of the ablest students he had taught, with moderate and sensible Conservative political views.
Guy Spier, who shared a tutor with him, remembers him as an outstanding student,"We were doing our best to grasp basic economic concepts. However, nobody even came close to Cameron. He would be integrating them with the way the British political system is put togetjye.air.He could have lectured me for it,and I would have sat there and taken notes."
While at Oxford,Cameron was a member of the excellent student dining society, the Bullingdon Club, which has a reputation for a strange drinking culture associated with boisterous(狂放不羈的)behavior and damaging property.Cameron graduated in 1988 with a first-class honours degree.

2.Since the 800's,November 1st is a holiday known as All Saints' Day.The evening before is known as Halloween.During the festival, poor people would beg for food and families would give them "soul cakes" in return for their promise to pray for the family's dead relatives.
Halloween, however, has a special meaning for children today, who dress in funny or ghostly clothes and knock at neighborhood doors shouting "Trick or Treat!" Princesses,ghosts-and-witches all hold bags open to catch the candies or cakes that the neighbors drop in.
Today school dances and neighborhood parties called "block parties" are popular among the young people and old. They dress up as historical or political figures and go to costume parties.Teenagers enjoy costume dances at their schools and the more outrageous the costume is,the better it is.
Certain tricks such as soaping car windows and knocking at the neighbors' windows are expected. But parties and pranks are not the only things that Halloweeners enjoy doing. Some collect money to buy food and medicine for poor children around the world.
Halloween originated as a celebration connected with evil spirits.Black is one of the traditional Halloween colors, probably because Halloween festivals and traditions took place at night. In the weeks before October 31,Americans decorate windows of houses and schools with silhouettes (輪廓)of witches and black cats.
Pumpkins are also a symbol of Halloween.Carving pumpkins into some kinds of lanterns is a Halloween custom also dating back to Ireland. When the Irish brought their customs to the United States, they carved faces on pumpkins instead of turnips(蕪菁)because in the autumn they were more plentiful than turnips.Today the lanterns in the windows of a house on Halloween night let costumed children know that there are candies(糖果)waiting for them if they knock and say "Trick or Treat!"
(1)According to the passage, why did the Irish choose pumpkins instead of turnips?
A.Because pumpkins were much cheaper.
B.Because in the autumn there were more pumpkins.
C.Because pumpkins were suitable to make lanterns.
D.Because the Irish wanted to make some changes.
(2)What's the meaning of the underlined word "outrageous" in the third paragraph?
A.Unusual.
B.Attractive.

When I was in seventh grade,I was a candy striper (護士助手)at a local hospital in my town.I volunteered about 30 to 40 hours a week during the summer.
Most of the time I spent there was with Mr.Green.He never had any visitors, and nobody seemed to care about his condition.I spent many days there holding his hand and talking to him, helping with anything that needed to be done.He became a close friend of mine, even though he responded with only an occasional hold of my hand.Mr.Green was in a coma (昏迷).
I left for a week for a vacation with my parents, and when I came back,Mr.Green was gone.I didn't have the courage to ask any of the nurses where he was,for fear they might tell me he had died.So with many questions unanswered,I continued to volunteer there through my eighth-grade year.

Several years later, when I was a junior in high school,I was at the gas station when I noticed a familiar face.__________________________
Paragraph 2:
