One day in May，I happened to overhear in the office Mr.Schmidt，my history teacher，and Mr.Boone，my math teacher arguing about me."I refuse to do it!I don't care who her father is；her grades can't match Martha's at all.I won't lie or falsify（偽造） records."said Mr.Schmidt angrily.
But Mr.Boone's voice sounded calm."Joann's father is not only on the Board（董事會(huì)），but he owns the only store in town：we could say it was a close tie and…"
