1.Hot Technology Products at CES 2020
Each year, the Consumer Electronics Show,or CES,presents new technological developments across many industries. It is a chance for companies to launch their latest products aimed at making life easier, more productive, and fun. Here is a list of some of the most interesting products introduced at CES 2020.
Smart Waste Can
A company called TOWNEW presented a waste can designed for the home that does a lot of the dirty work for you. When the can is full, the user can touch a button to activate the machine's smart capabilities. The device then completely seals(密封)the waste bag inside and puts a new one in place, all by itself. The can then raises its top so the user can pick up the bag and throw it away.
Snore(打)Stopping Pillow
People who snore when they sleep might be helped by the "Motion Pillow".This smart pillow is designed to collect information about the sleeper's head position and breathing during the night. The system then uses this data to change the shape of the pillow with the help of built-in airbags. The idea is that by changing the pillow, the sleeper's head will move just enough to improve airflow through the nose and reduce snoring.
Phone Charger and Car Battery Saver
Mophie announced a new charging device that can wirelessly charge smartphones, and also be used to start a car with a dead battery. The Powerstation Go comes with two USB ports for device charging,as well as car battery connectors and a powerful light.
Toilet Paper Robot
And finally, personal products company Procter Gamble presented a robot that can serve people as they use the toilet. The RollBot was described by the company's Charmin division as a "first-of-its-kind"invention.The small,self-balancing robot can be controlled by a smartphone to bring bathroom users a fresh roll of paper without ever having to leave the toilet seat.

2.Back in middle school.I went to live with my mother for two years on her farm.Whenever people hear that I lived on a farm, they immediately have an image of dairy cows, tractors, hay, and overalls.Nothing could be further from the truth.
I wasn't on the kind of farm everyone imagines.I didn't feed cows or pigs;I didn't grow corn or wheat.I helped my mother raise llamas(羊駝).
It is strange that such non-traditional livestock should be raised on a long-established farm such as ours, which has been in the family for generations. Our family did indeed raise traditional livestock for many decades. Then, fifty years ago,my great-grandfather decided to buy a llama. He must have learned that wool from llamas was more profitable than wool from sheep. The llama wool business turned out to be so successful,in fact, that my great-grandfather changed the family business to a completely-developed llama farm.
Before I began to live on the farm,I had many illusions(錯(cuò)誤的觀念)about rural life. What could possibly be easier than feeding and grooming(照看)some animals? After I had settled into my new home, however,I realized that farm work was much more involved than I had expected.Collecting manure(肥料),for example, doesn't seem so bad when someone else does it on TV,but I had to get up before dawn every day to finish that chore before catching the bus to school.
I don't mean to say that my life on the farm was a bad experience.I learned a lot about myself:for example,I'm not a morning person.I also learned about llamas' habits, such as spitting(吐唾沫) when they are unhappy. Most importantly,my mother and I got to spend a lot of time together during those years.Although I doubt I'll have a career in farming.I look forward to returning to the family farm for short visits.
(1)Why did the author's great-grandfather want to raise llamas?
A.To please his grandchildren.
B.To learn about their habits.
C.To save their lives.
D.To make more money.
(2)What did the author imagine rural life would be like?
A.It would be very easy and relaxing.
B.It would involve lots of laborers.
C.It would be boring and tiring.
D.It would be the same as what was shown on TV.
(3)How did the author feel about his life on his mother's farm?
A.He was bored.
B.He was excited.
C.He was grateful.
D.He was disappointed.
(4)What would be the best title for the text?
A.Returning to a family.
B.Living in a big family.
C.Working on a traditional farm.
D.Growing up on a farm.組卷:3引用:1難度:0.6 -
3.A Robot Is Designed in China to Help Doctors Fight COVID-19 Chinese researchers have developed a robot designed to help doctors treat the new coronavirus and other highly infectious diseases.
The machine has a long robotic arm attached to a base with wheels. It can perform some of the same medical examination tasks as doctors. For example, the device can perform ultrasounds(超聲波),collect fluid samples from a person's mouth, and listen to sounds made by a patient's organs.Cameras record the robot's activities, which are controlled remotely so doctors can avoid coming into close contact with infected patients.Doctors and other medical workers can operate the machine from a nearby room,or from much farther away.
The robot's main designer is Zheng Gangtie,an engineer and professor at Tsinghua University. He said that he got the idea tor the device around the time of the Lunar New Year in Janujye.aiy.Ar the time, the number of cases of the COVID-19 virus was rising quickly in the city of Wuhan.
Zheng said his friend from Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital told him that one of the biggest problems in dealing with COVID-19 was that healthcare workers treating patients were getting infected themselves.Zheng said he wanted to do something to help this situation.
So the engineer gathered a team and went to work on the robotic device. The devices use the same technology that is used for space equipment, including moon explorers. The new robot is almost completely automated. It can even disinfect itself after performing actions involving patient contact.
"Doctors are all very brave,"Zheng said."But this virus is just too contagious...We can use robots to perform the most dangerous tasks."

D.Helping doctors avoiding close contact with infected patients.
(2)How did Zheng Gangtie get the idea of creating the robot?
A.He was inspired by China's Lunar New Year.
B.He realised the risks that healthcare workers were facing.
C.He was concerned that the disease was spreading too fast.
D.He was required to complete the task by Tsinghua University.
(3)How can we understand the underlined sentence in Paragraph 4?
A.The robot can disinfect patients when performing actions.
