Yuan Longping was a great scientist who was the first person to develop hybrid rice（雜交水稻）.His research greatly solved the problem of the food shortage in the world.Known as"Father of Hybrid Rice"，Dr Yuan graduated from Southwest Agricultural（農(nóng)業(yè)的）College in 1953.From then on，finding ways to grow more rice was his life goal.
Yuan Longping started the research in 1964.He put forward the idea of hybrid rice and did experiments（實(shí)驗(yàn)）on the farm.He failed many times but didn't give up.In 1973，Yuan and his team developed the world's first hybrid rice successfully.The new technology was tested in many areas of South China in 1974，and then he continued to test it in other areas.Because of his research，China became the first country that could produce hybrid rice.Yuan made it possible to grow hybrid rice in large amounts，and he was called"Father of Hybrid Rice".
Professor Yuan has already left us，but he will be remembered forever.
