You have big eyes and a small nose. While your friend has small eyes and a big nose. What makes you and your friend look different? The answer is genes (基因).Scientists found 15 genes deciding (決定) some of our facial features (面部特征).Some of these genes can pass down from parents to children. That's why we often hear people say,"You are just a clone (克?。?of your mom,or of your dad."
But what facial features did you get from your mom?And what parts came from your dad?
       Nose
The tip of the nose is the most (A) "handed down" part.If one of your parents has a big nose, you are likely to have the same nose shape.
       Chin
If one of your parents has a big chin (下巴),usually you have a big chin.
       Skin color
One parent has a light skin color. The other parent has a dark skin color. Most of the time, you have a skin color in between.
No two faces are the same
Even twins don't look the same.Their looks are just very similar (相似的).They can have some small differences.

Children offered Covid vaccine (疫苗) The Government has decided that all UK children aged from 5 to 11 years old should be offered a Covid vaccination. Some children in this age group with medical conditions have already had the vaccine.A vaccine is a type of medicine that trains the body to fight a disease using its own defences (防御) .
What does the vaccination (接種疫苗) do?
A vaccination reduces the chances of catching Covid-19.Two doses (計量) should give long-lasting protection (防護(hù)) against getting really ill.It should also help to protect against other symptoms (癥狀) ,such as losing your sense of smell or having a high temperature. As with all medicines,no vaccine offers full protection. Some people may still get Covid-19 after being vaccinated but their symptoms should be less severe (嚴(yán)重的) .
Why is it being offered to younger children now?
Children are less likely than older people to get really ill from Covid-19,so the benefits of vaccinating them are smaller. The decision to offer vaccines to all children follows advice from the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) ,a group of scientists who advise the Government.Professor Wei Shen Lim from the JCVI said,"The main purpose of offering vaccinations to 5 to 11 -year-olds is to increase their protection against severe illness."The Government says giving Covid vaccines to younger children is"non-urgent"(非緊急的) and it's up to parents or carers to decide if it's right for their child. The vaccine will be given as two small doses 12 weeks apart.
       How will it help?
Wales was the first UK country to offer vaccines to children. The Welsh Health Minister,Eluned Morgan, said the JCVI's decision will help stop children having to miss school. In Scotland,a record number of young people missed school because of Covid in January.Children in Northern Ireland are also being offered the vaccinations.England's Health Secretary,Sajid Javid, said the injections (注射) will" increase protection against potential(可能的) future waves of Covid-19".
