After news spread that the eight time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps used marijuana，a heated discussion took place in our class．Opinions were divided on the issue．
Some classmates argued Phelps deserved to be forgiven as he had made a sincere apology to the public and had willingly accepted his punishment．What's more，they argued，we shouldn't expect him to be perfect just because he is a public figure-after all and he is still a young man in his early twenties．We all make mistakes and Phelps is no exception．
