6."The Arctic is dying," researchers returning from the largest—ever Arctic expedition(遠征)have warned.
The program the scientists are working on is called MOSAIC.Scientists from 20 countries, including China, spent a year in the Arctic from September 2019 to October 2020 to collect data about the environment and climate change. They predict that if we keep going as we are,the Arctic will have no ice during the summer within just a few decades.
Global warming and the melting(融化) of sea ice are having a huge influence on Arctic life. For example, polar bears depend on sea ice to hunt seals. But when the sea ice melts, they are forced onto land, where there is not enough food for them.Scientists say the number of polar bears will drop by two -thirds to less than 10,000 by 2050.
As the days get warmer, there's more rain than snow in the Arctic. This hurts the millions of reindeer(馴鹿) who eat moss(苔蘚) and grass. When rain falls,it locks these animals food in ice instead of snow. Many of them starve(挨餓)to death because they can't reach the food under the ice.According to the World Wildlife Fund(WWF),the global warming and population of reindeer has dropped by 56 percent over the last 20 years.
Such losses have destroyed the lives of indigenous(土著的) people who depend on reindeer and caribou for a living. The Inuit(因紐特人) use every part of the caribou(北美馴鹿)—sinew(筋) for thread, hide(毛皮) for clothing, and flesh for food.In Europe and Russia, the Sami(薩米)people raise thousands of reindeer. But as these animals are disappearing, their traditional way of living, which has existed for thousands of years, may be frozen only in memory in the future.

7.Touch down to Earth
China welcomed three heroic astronauts Zhai Zhigang,Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu home on April 16.This return ended the Shenzhou XIII astronauts' six-month space mission. It also marks a major breakthrough for China's efforts in space.
In order to return home safely, they did a lot of preparations before leaving the space station.
If you are coming home after a long journey, you have to pack up For astronauts in space, besides their personal belongings, they"packed" experimental data and samples, they would be further researched on Earth.
The astronauts had to tidy up a large number of materials, including goods on the Tianzhou 3 cargo spacecraft, according to Zhong Weiwei,a researcher at the China Astronaut Research and Training Center.
Since the space station had no room service, the three astronauts needed to "clear the house" on their own. They collected a great amount of waste. This included leftover foods, sanitary (衛(wèi)生) waste and waste from in-orbit experiments. The waste was then put into the orbital module(軌道艙),which burnt up as it reentered Earth's atmosphere.
To ensure their safe and sound return, the three astronauts had been doing physical exercise to train their muscles for the return to Earth.Based on their in-orbit physical examinations and data, experts had customize(定制) exercise plans for each of them to ensure a safe landing Travelling in space has been a dream for every Chinese. And now we are looking forward to more explorations.
(1)How did experts help the three astronauts return?
(2)What preparations did the astronauts do before returning to Earth?(Give the answer with no more than 20 words)
(3)What do you think of staying in space? Why do you think so?(Give the reason with no more than 15 words)組卷:52引用:1難度:0.5
